An introductory survey course taught from an evolutionary perspective. Topics include the structure and function of the cell as it relates to life processes; the biochemical relationships within organisms and how they relate to metabolic processes; comparative studies in structure and life processes in animals as an adaptation to their environment; genetics. Three-hour lecture, three-hour lab.
A minimum grade of C is required for BI majors and for those taking this as a science prerequisite.
