An introduction to modern chemistry with a quantitative treatment of topics including measurement, electronic structure of the atom, molecular structure, chemical reactions and stoichiometry, properties of aqueous solutions, thermochemistry, and the gas laws.

A minimum grade of C is required for BI majors and CH minors; B- for NR majors.
