This course provides an overview of the real estate industry and the finance issues within it. The course will be taught from the perspective of a real estate investor, but will cover topics from the perspective of the real estate lender as well. Both residential and commercial real estate topics will be covered. Topics covered include the basic legal concepts of real estate, promissory notes and mortgages (fixed rate and adjustable), investing in residential and commercial markets, markets for real estate capital, the use of leverage, and income tax considerations.
