This course focuses on the creation and development of religious institutions at the core of the Western tradition through the lens of Art history, while also exploring cultural practices and belief systems that are important to understanding art and art making. The temporal focus is on the Medieval Period, focusing on the passing of the ancient world, the fall of the Western Roman Empire, a merging into the Renaissance, and the advent of the Age of Discovery.
