Understanding of the molecular biology of cells at the biochemical level will be achieved through lecture and lab. Topics to be dis-cussed will be DNA structure, genome organization, replication, transcription and translation, tools for analyzing gene expression, molecular cloning, genetically modified organisms and bioethics of genetic manipulation.
