This course provides an introduction to statistical concepts and methods used by social scientists to analyze quantitative data. Basic statistical concepts and methods are presented in a manner that emphasizes the understanding of theory and data analysis. This course strongly centers on how statistics is commonly used in the real world. Students learn how to use SPSS to carry out statistical computations utilizing real world data. They also learn how to build databases, code data, interpret SPSS statistical outputs and write summaries describing the findings.
