This course is an introduction to basic research methods in the field of criminal justice. Students will be exposed to a variety of topics including, but not limited to, the principles of research design, methods of data collection, survey development, and techniques of data analysis. The course will also focus on understanding, evaluating, and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative data. The main goal of the course is to help students understand the fundamentals of criminal justice research and to provide students with the appropriate scientific tools that will help them in their careers as practitioners, researchers, or academics.
