SO 325: Global Perspectives on Gender

This course examines gender as a dynamic and socially constructed concept across diverse cultural, political, and economic contexts. Students will explore gender roles, expectations, and rights through varied values frameworks, including utilitarianism, egalitarianism, and feminism. By analyzing traditional and evolving perspectives, students will evaluate how cultural norms, social institutions, and global forces shape gender identities, roles, expectations, and rights. The course equips students with the tools to engage thoughtfully with gender issues in an interconnected world.
